VMS for Fisheries - Transponders

BlueTraker VMS transponders are the latest generation of marine graded communication terminals developed for global vessel tracking and monitoring. Transponders intelligently transmit position, speed, heading and other information via either the GSM/GPRS terrestrial network or the Iridium satellite network at predefined intervals. BlueTraker VMS transponders are known for their integrated design with no external antennas, incorporating all the electronics inside a single terminal housing. Robust and maintenance-free transponders offer reliable and cost-efficient operation with low investment and a long lifespan.

BlueTraker VMS Transponder

BlueTraker VMS transponder is a communication terminal specifically developed to monitor fishing vessels globally. It uses hybrid satellite and GSM/GPRS communication channels to transmit position, speed and heading in real-time to the fisheries management authority. BlueTraker VMS transponder can also send catch reports as well as fishing effort data from our BlueSenz range of sensors. Moreover, BlueTraker VMS transponder offers bidirectional communication between vessel and Fisheries Monitoring Center via Bluetooth using our smartphone application (BTApp) or through ConBox LCD device.

BlueTraker iVMS Transponder

BlueTraker iVMS (inshore vessel monitoring) transponder is an efficient and, at the same time, affordable solution for VMS vessel tracking and monitoring optimised for smaller fishing boats and artisanal vessels which are fishing close to the coast (in the inshore areas). BlueTraker iVMS uses inexpensive GPRS communication exclusively (rather than satellite) to transfer data and commands.

Embedded geozones

Low power design

Future proof technology

IP68 rated device

Simple installation - no external antennas

BlueSenz ready - remote fishing gear monitoring

Embedded SIM card

BlueTraker VMS Solar Transponder

The BlueTraker VMS Solar is a solar-powered device that tracks and monitors smaller fishing vessels. Powered by solar cells and a backup battery, it ensures continuous tracking, even at night or during adverse weather conditions. A wireless emergency button lets the crew send a distress message to the Fisheries Monitoring Centre (FMC) when needed. It offers global coverage, ensuring that even smaller vessels remain visible to fishing authorities.

KEY FEATURES and benefits:

Solar-powered with integrated battery

Up to one week of autonomy at hourly reporting without sunlight

Fisherman Friendly

Wireless Emergency Button

Designed for fishing management authorities

Reliable global satellite coverage

Designed for harsh marine conditions

BlueTraker miniVMS Transponder

BlueTraker miniVMS is a transponder for small-scale fisheries that operates without any external power source. It runs on a built-in rechargeable battery with 1-week autonomy and is ideal for smaller and artisanal fishing vessels under 12 m of length. Programmable buttons are an additional function of the BlueTraker miniVMS, allowing for a Distress Button to be included in the package, too.

Compared to the BlueTraker iVMS transponder, miniVMS comes in a smaller size and runs only on an internal rechargeable battery, requiring no external power.
