How it Works
The BlueSenz Discovery Kit uses NetSenz (sensor mounted on fishing gear) and GearSenz (sensor mounted on the winch) to track fishing operations by detecting gear deployment, retrieval, and depth-time temperature profiles. Sensor data is wirelessly and automatically collected by WirelessGate and transmitted onshore via VMS Transponder to an onshore storage unit.

The system provides an automated register of fishing gear usage by assigning each gear a unique ID through a securely mounted BlueSenz sensor. By tagging fishing nets with NetSenz, the system accurately logs and monitors net deployments, movements, and retrievals throughout a fishing trip.
If a net is lost, the attached sensor stays with it, allowing the system to detect missing gear and notify authorities upon completion of the fishing operation. The approximate location is estimated using deployment time and the vessel’s track. This proactive approach reduces the impact of ghost nets, promotes sustainable fishing, and helps protect marine ecosystems.
