BlueTraker VMS terminals allow Fisheries Monitoring Centres (FMCs) to track and monitor their fishing fleets wherever they voyage and fish on the sea. However, fishing vessels do not spend all their time on the ocean. Much of a fishing vessels life is spent in port (delivering fish catches, crew changes, maintenance etc.) and for these time periods, the FMC simply needs to know where they are (and that the vessel is not fishing).
