EMA d.o.o., the company behind BlueTraker technology, is proud to announce the successful deployment of a new Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) project in Cyprus. Partnering with Tototheo Global, this milestone represents a significant enhancement in the monitoring capabilities of Cyprus’ fishing fleet, following a competitive tender process led by Cypriot authorities.
This marks another significant achievement for BlueTraker, following major projects in Sri Lanka and Mexico, further strengthening its position as a leading provider of cutting-edge VMS technology.
For this project, EMA supplied 50 units of advanced on-vessel hardware, including transponders that feature over 20 days of battery autonomy under normal operation. The transponders also include new magnetic compass functionality, along with WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. Additionally, the ConBox, which is part of the system, includes an LCD display for two-way text messaging.
In early October 2024, the BlueTraker team collaborated with Tototheo Global’s skilled technicians in Limassol, Cyprus for a series of training and certification sessions. This hands-on training ensured that Tototheo’s technical team was fully prepared to manage installations and provide ongoing support for the BlueTraker VMS system. By the end of October, the outdated Inmarsat-based devices and associated equipment had been uninstalled and replaced with BlueTraker’s state-of-the-art VMS hardware.
This project demonstrates EMA’s commitment to providing robust, technologically advanced solutions in the demanding field of VMS for monitoring fishing vessels. Together, EMA and Tototheo Global have provided a reliable, future-ready solution that reinforces compliance and sustainability in vessel monitoring.
