Bluetraker enters the Americas

A well-planned project wins the Mexican authority’s requirements.

In December 2022, Mexico National Commission of Aquaculture and Fisheries (Comisión Nacional de Acuacultura y Pesca, CONAPESCA) launched a call for an international public tender to award the contract to supply the full functioning vessel monitoring system. We are proud to announce we won the tender with the great support of a local partner.

The plan is to equip no less than 1.800 large-scale fishing vessels with BlueTraker versatile yet robust hardware, consisting of the newest BlueTraker VMS transponder and LCD model of ConBox with emergency distress beacon and texting possibility over the satellite. Thus, CONAPESCA will receive the latest VMS technology, including the possibility of bidirectional communication with FMC, embedded geozones with immediate onboard audio and visual warning in case of geozone border crossing, the opportunity for the owners of the vessel to track the current location of their vessels and much more. The latest BlueTraker VMS system is also future-proof via two most prominent upgrades: Firstly, the Starfish functionality that enables fishermen on the high seas to use their mobile phones to communicate via satellite with their friends and family, and secondly, the BlueSenz technology of fishing gear sensors for closest to ground truth estimation of fishing effort.

FMC will acquire the SecondScreen software license for real-time vessel tracking, monitoring, and control. On top of that, they will be equipped with various customized functionalities and new advanced reports to support them in managing sustainable fishery.

We are excited to support Mexican FMC with our VMS solution and look forward to similar projects in the future!
